Learn how to set your lipstick so it LASTS. After you have applied your lipstick, hold a tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent powder over the tissue.
Use baby powder to get DIY falsies. Between applying each coat of mascara, dip a Q-tip in baby powder and run across your lashes, focusing on the tips. The second coat will attach to the powder for a longer, fuller look.
Here’s an incredibly fast, polished top knot you can do in your car. 1. Gather your hair up into a high ponytail at the top of your crown. Secure with an elastic. 2. Divide the ponytail ends into two sections and use both hands to twist each section down to the ends. 3. Wrap each twist in opposite directions around the base of your elastic. Make sure each twist is wrapped around evenly. 4. Secure with bobby pins.
Reuse your expensive mascara brushes. Much of what you’re paying for when it comes to expensive mascara is the brush design, not the formula. Just clean it off and use it with a drugstore mascara to get a similar effect. They’re also great for combing out lashes, or eliminating clumps after you’ve applied your mascara.

FOR OUTDATES AND OVERNIGHTS Tip of the Day: 28.09.2015 Monday, September 28th, 2015 Unless you keep your spongebag permanently packed, tuck a little packing checklist inside. It’s too easy to forget essentials (and find yourself toothbrush/cleanser-less in a strange hotel). To avoid leaks, pack bottles containing liquids inside Ziploc sandwich bags, inside your kit.
Tip of the Day: 29.09.2015 Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 Wisdom from the beautiful sixtysomething Marie Helvin, about her stage in life: ‘Throw away old looks and try something new. The easiest way to start is by being more adventurous with lipstick colour and perfume. Get a professional makeover – you can do this at any department store. It’s easy to get stuck with a make-up look and sometimes someone who doesn’t know you can help you shake it up. Experiment with haircolour, too – although just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean you have to cut your hair.’
Tip of the Day: 30.09.2015 Wednesday, September 30th, 2015 If you manicure your own nails late at night, sleep with your hands on top of the covers so they can dry. It takes six hours for polish to set hard.
Tip of the Day: 07.10.2015 Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 Never wash your hair the day of a big event. Any style will last longer if strands are a little ‘dirty’, and grips and clips will stay put much better.
Tip of the Day: 08.10.2015 Thursday, October 8th, 2015 Skincare creator Judith Williams tells us not to be afraid to ‘power up’ our skincare. ‘Mix products that suit you and use them wherever you feel appropriate – for example, using a body oil combined with a body moisturiser…’
Tip of the Day: 09.10.2015 Friday, October 9th, 2015 If you wake up looking (and feeling) sluggish, alternate bursts of cool-then-warm-then-cool-again water in the shower to get circulation going.
Tip of the Day: 13.10.2015 Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 Lipstick can sometimes last decades – but when it does go bad, you can smell it, and it’s sticky and tacky. However, lipsticks that have changed colour from being exposed to warm climates can be given a shave – just slice the top and sides off the bullet, then ‘mash’ them into a lipstick palette. (Bobbi Brown’s is great.) A few drops of castor oil will help smooth out the texture.
