I like kitties because you have to earn their love. I like that because they have to, as well. My kitties earn my love by snuggling with me when I have pain, and they always give me lots of kitty-kisses. Their love is unconditional, even though they're not slaves like dogs. I like dogs not big enough to knock me on my ass. But cats get me a lot better.

I have a cat that is affectionate toward me in small doses. However, when I am assleep, he is always close enough to touch me, and a couple times a night snuggles a little just to let me know he's there. If I am up later than usual he tries to "lead" me to bed, and he wakes me up at the same time in the morning, to lead me to the shower. I guess he thinks of himself as the director of nighttime security and morning keeper of the routine and director of protocol.
