Carson City State History Museum Its easy to look around this beautiful state and see a history of creativity, entertainment, exploration and incredible vision. Did you know there was once a community of Chinese woodcutters right here in Nevada? Between 1875 and 1915, Chinese immigrants settled in an area called Chinese Camp, near Aurora, NV. The artisans felled pinyon to supply firewood to the nearby mining camps in Bodie and Aurora. This exhibit will recollect the historical context of this community through artifacts and photography. Aurora is a ghost town in Mineral County in the west central part of the US state of Nevada, approximately 22 mi southwest of the town of Hawthorne, three miles from the California border. The Nevada History Museum will hold an exhibit on Chinese Camp starting in February and will run through December.
