I don't think im alone with this. I suffer from anxiety I constantly worry about stuff. Weather it be work or if someone is mad with me. A number of things. What are some good medications to help compact it. I have got better with it I try not to worry about something unless I know for a fact it is a problem. Ive also exercised for a month and its helped boost my mood. I know I cannot be dependent on medication for this and im trying to stay relaxed as much as I can without it.

Hey Sakaki I read this and thought I'd reach out. If you read my post about Suicide and Depression you know that I sought help with a Holestic Therapist. I was working crazy hours and dealing with work place bullying. Someone wanted my job and if they could get me to quit it was easier. Well as you know it backfired. Anyway I developed panic attacks and insomnia. My doctor prescribed anti anxiety meds and when I read about the sexual side affects I was like Fuck that!lol
I ended up meeting a therapist because I found her patients paperwork at the end of my driveway. I told her about my anxiety and she gave me her card. My own rock bottom break down helped me go see her.
Now I know therapy isn't for everyone but it is an option and it's fun and has helped me in so many ways. Other options are meditation and relaxation videos on youtube. There is something called cognitive behavioral therapy that you can also find on YouTube. Technics that you can use to calm you down when you are having an anxiety attack. I was like you an overthinker and a worrier. Looking for everyone's approval when it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. I'm a great guy that cares about everyone and will do whatever I can to help anyone.
When you start over thinking or worrying ask yourself why am worrying and instead of thinking the worst is going to happen. Think the best is going to happen. Use the same amount of energy that you would use thinking negative to think positive. Like let's say you have a meeting tomorrow and you have to do a presentation. The what if questions start. Ok so think I'm prepared and they are going to love what I have to say. Stop the negative thinking as soon as they start. Then do something you love. Watch a comedy. I'm an artist and a writer so I draw and write. Do something positive that will put a smile on your face and change your mood. The weather is getting nice take a walk. Yoga, or a massage things like that can help you. Anyway I hope these things help. I've been there the first step is the hardest admitting something is wrong and you need help.

Hi, Sakaki, I've dealt with anxiety in the past and I have family members who deal with panic attacks. For me I was very lucky - it went away on its own after a few years. It was like my brain woke up one day and said, "Hey, this is BS - I'm harming myself needlessly." I'm not 100% better - my brain chemistry still needs help - but it's not anxiety now.

If you haven't already done some general reading about it, I recommend mayoclinic.org. I used to work there - great place, rock-solid medical information. Here is their page on anxiety: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/anxiety/symptoms-causes/syc-20350961

Personally, I would do what you can to feel better without meds. You can't go wrong with exercise. Meds have costs in money and side effects. Try therapy first, as Tony suggested. Good luck & best wishes. BH

Is that a self diagnosis of anxiety or an actual medical evaluation of anxiety that you have Sakaki? When I was working, my medical clinic offered free seminars and workshops, and I signed up for one and attending it for stress, and how to deal with it. My job at work could become stressful, causing distress. Stress is good, it can keep you alive, but distress is not so good, too much stress. I learned about how to deal with different situations, especially at work for me, all without medication or drugs, and it worked. Some of the others in the group had different stressful situations, some with kids or family, and it was good to talk about it in a group situation where everyone could toss out ideas openly on how to deal with it. The workshop was one day only and not very long but I learned from it. I'm easygoing now and not much bothers me, and if it does I just deal with it in a way that works for me where I keep my sanity or whatever. If the person conducting the workshop thought that the person should see a medical specialist to see if drugs or medication might be a solution for a persons situation, then the workshop person would recommend one of the medical specialists at the clinic. Most of us were able to try to control things on our own from what we learned. Self prescribed medication is nothing to fuck around with, it can mess your life up.

    Hi Sakaki,

Your post kind of hit home for me. I suffer from anxiety and depression. I constantly worry about work as it’s very stressful and replay past decisions. It’s easier said than done to say just don’t think about it or don’t worry about past decisions, especially when a wrong work decision made months ago a project could comes back to haunt me. It’s good that you have been able to get out and exercise more, that’s something I am trying to do more of as well and eat healthier. All of the other posters have made great suggestions.

I would recommend avoiding taking medication because of side effects like weight gain, the sexual side effects, and fatigue. I hate the weight gain as it has made it harder to lose weight. I can live with sexual side effects since its overrated to me and sleeping is more pleasurable to me. I finally agreed to try the medication route because my coping technique wasn’t healthy to me and since I am not a talker, I only lasted two sessions of talk therapy. Lately I have been trying to figure out if the medication is really worth it since I think I was better off before I started taking the medication and I am still thinking about doing my old coping technique.

    Good luck with your situation.

  6. Medications should be gotten from a doctor after a proper diagnosis. Until you are able to see a doctor it’s helpful to get more exercise (which you’ve been doing) and eat less processed foods like candy, chips and soda. :)

I have not been diagnosed by a professional. But I tend to over think and assume the worst. Medication would be a last resort. I'm looking at other ways to deal with the stress first.

You should see what your job offers. Mine offers 5 free counseling visits per year. While not using them myself, my employees swear by them. Sometimes just talking things out is the cure.
However these sessions can also determine if you do have an actual mental health condition, and can prescribe appropriate medication.

There is no shame in getting help be it counseling or medication. The only shame is in being too proud to get help. Your friends and family, and especially YOU deserve the best version of yourself.

    Be good to yourself....

I have severe anxiety and what has worked best for me is meditation paired with a solid routine & the right meds. It took me a long time for me to find the right medication but with the help of my therapist I was able to find the perfect medication for me.
