Heist (2001). A pretty good crime movie with an incredible cast. "You plan a good enough getaway, you could steal Ebbets Field" ~ Joe Moore "Ebbets Field's gone" ~ Bergman "What did I tell you?" ~ Joe Moore
In Too Deep Omar Epps infiltrates LL Cool J's criminal empire but finds himself losing touch with his mission. Better than it sounds lol
I really like LL Cool J as an actor. I think he's highly underrated. I've liked him in every role I've seen him in.
I agree! He was great in Any Given Sunday, I love that movie and I'm not a huge Oliver Stone fan by any means. Justin Timberlake has also transitioned surprisingly well into film.
Jennifer 8. This is a pretty good mystery with Andy Garcia and Uma Therman when they were both at the top of their game. One of my favorite actors, Lance Henriksen, is also in it. "I suppose I'm drinking myself sober." ~ Freddy Ross
Last Samurai, The. Tom Cruise was good in this (if you could get past the rather hackneyed I-hate-myself-because-I-fought-Native-Americans-and-that's-wrong self-loathing they wrote for his character), but Ken Watanabe knocked it into the cheap seats as Katsumoto. "The Emperor could not hear my words. His army will come. For nine hundred years, my ancestors have protected our people. Now... I have failed them." ~ Katsumoto "So you will take your own life? In shame? Shame for a life of service? Discipline? Compassion?" ~ Capt. Algren "The way of the Samurai is not necessary anymore" ~ Katsumoto "Necessary? What could be more necessary?" ~ Capt. Algren
Ransom. Mel Gibson plays a (possibly corrupt) father whose son is kidnapped by Gary Sinise. Rather than pay, Mel puts out a reward for the kidnappers. Delroy Lindo, Rene Russo, Don Wahlberg, and Liv Schreiber round out the cast. For fans of Californication, Evan Handler (Charlie Runkle) also has a small part. "Why would they ever let my son go, no matter what I do? I mean, no matter what I do... pay, don't pay, comply, tell him to go fuck himself - why would they give him back? I mean, he's a witness any way you cut it. It's all bullshit, it's all just... seven out of ten." ~ Tom Mullen
"Tomorrow Never Dies"-the first James Bond movie I ever saw and the reason Pierce Brosnan will always be James Bond to me
American History X. Edward Norton plays a neo-nazi who discovers the evils of racism. "So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it." ~ Danny Vinyard
The Departed. *SPOILERS* Any movie where Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon both get shot in the head is alright in my book! "I don't want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me. Years ago we had the church. That was only a way of saying - we had each other. The Knights of Columbus were real head-breakers; true guineas. They took over their piece of the city. Twenty years after an Irishman couldn't get a fucking job, we had the presidency. May he rest in peace. That's what they don't realize. If I got one thing against the black chappies, it's this - no one gives it to you. You have to take it." ~ Frank Costello
Gremlins. My second-favorite Christmas movie, right after It's a Wonderful Life. "Well, that's the story. So, if your air conditioner goes on the fritz, or your washing machine blows up, or your video recorder conks out; before you call the repairman turn on all the lights, check all the closets and cupboards, look under all the beds, 'cause you never can tell. There just might be a gremlin in your house." ~ Randall Peltzer
