      I wonder how many men were embalmed...and buried locally or sent home to be laid to rest in their home towns? Who was embalmed? Officers only? Enlisted men? I don't think of soldiers being embalmed, honestly - I think of lots of simple pine boxes, or maybe just shallow graves in the aftermath of large battles.
