By now, everyone’s heard about my casino win after my party. It’s actually the best score I’ve walked away with thus far. I probably could have done better, but best not to tempt fate. But was I just lucky? Was it because I was playing on a Tuesday? Was it karma? Does anyone remember Brandi Minx? She worked off and on for Dennis since 2012, and has worked all over Nevada. She also does porn. How does she factor into this? Well... Brandi was in SLC for a week, and was planning to head home. Her last Nevada run didn’t go as she planned, and she decided to head home. She left her car in the care of a guy that a friend of hers recommended, and he drove all the gas out of it and left it at a Trax station where it could get towed in the morning. She sent me a DM on Twitter to call her. So I gave her a call, and she explained the situation. Being the nice guy I am, I went to the hotel she was staying at. A trucker friend of hers put her up in a room for the week. She was to leave that Friday. So I picked Brandi up and we went looking for her car. At first, the destination we were given was wrong, so she reread the texts the guy sent her, and found out where it really was. It was across town. So we followed my GPS to the parking lot it led us to, and there was Brandi’s car. She drove back to her hotel and I followed. I ended up falling asleep on the hotel bed. I did not expect compensation, but it was offered. Brandi told me she was sorry that she couldn’t “take care” of me. I told it was ok, I was saving myself for another. In the intervening days, Brandi told me she had a bad feeling about something. On Friday morning, when she was supposed to be driving home, she saw that her car got repossessed. I woke up to text messages stating this. So I helped her unpack her room, and we tried to work out a plan to get her home. After getting out of Salt Lake and driving around Bountiful, and had to take VTO from work, we went to Kaysville, where I live, and stopped at a 7-11 so she could put what her trucker friend gave her into her debit card, and I gave her some money toward it too. She bought herself an airline ticket, so the plan was that I take her to the airport in the morning. I called my mom and asked if she was good with having a guest for a few hours, and Brandi was at my house for the night. The following morning, we got as much as we could packed into one of her suitcases, some stuff is still at my house. I got her to the airport in time for her flight. She texted me while I was on my way home, telling me thanks for everything. A week later, Brandi sent me the key to her car, and when I had the address to the repo lot, I went there to clean out her car, get her valuables, and the license plates. I sent what I could to her, but I still have her stuff at my house that I’m trying to send back to her. It might take a while. So...I’m almost thinking that since I helped Brandi, Dennis saw this, and this big (to me) casino win was his reward to me for helping one of his girls in her time of need, if you believe in that sort of thing. Or maybe it’s karma. Not sure, but I’m not so sure my luck would be so great if I hadn’t helped Brandi out those days. But that’s just the kind of guy I am. If I can, I will help you. That being said, I wonder how long this lucky streak will last, or if it’s just limited to Carson City? If that’s the case, then I have more than the usual reasons to return that way. And for the guy that tried to screw Brandi, and Brandi’s frenemy coworker, I wonder how fate will treat them?
The more I think about it...that has to be it. I don’t necessarily believe...but what else could it be?
Just the kind of guy I am. I guess Brandi had a good feeling about me, coz I had to have been a risk. I’m one of a few she truly cares about in Utah. Before I made my trip, she told me to be careful, and told me that part, too.
I'm believe in karma, but I don't think we get to chose how and when karma works. I guess I feel we should do our best to be kind, considerate and helpful to deserve the good breaks that come our way.
For me, karma is a good policy to follow, but do I believe is a force that punishes bad people and rewards good? No. Correlation does not imply causation, if you consider the wide breath of actions through out the human experience. Good on you for helping out someone in need. But remember, doing good things shouldn't beg a reward.
Update: It’s been a few weeks but Brandi’s belongings are now with her. We made arrangements for her trucker friend to send her belongings to her. He got me in contact with a buddy of his who works for the same trucking company, and we arranged to meet. He lived in Ogden, I live in Kaysville, and I arranged to meet him in Riverdale, in the Best Buy parking lot. As I waited, I got to listen to the Livestream, as I had been given the news that I was losing my job at Amazon. I met up with the dude, and he asked me how I knew his friend, and I told him that the person that owns this stuff is a mutual friend, and I know him through her. So he took her stuff and the trucker picked it up and sent it to her. Last I heard, she got the suitcases. I hope she got the rest now. So it’s pretty much come full circle.
Interesting story. And interesting interpretation. I am glad Brandi is OK; that was so kind of you to help! Yes karma is real. Definitively karma is action. Whatever action we have taken is our karma, as is the result of said action. Sometimes it is direct and other times indirect. I could talk Karma all day because there are so many aspects to it... Sorry to hear about Amazon; what's your next adventure?
I’m currently working at Lifetime. They’re famous for basketball hoops, plastic folding tables, plastic folding chairs, playground equipment, coolers, canoes, kayaks, and toolsheds. I’m working in plastics, and it’s an interesting process to watch a big gob of hot melted plastic get pressed in a mold. These molds look all the world like a sci-fi sarcophagus. It’s also less stressful, and it’s not killing me. One of my coworkers asks me, “Kinda stressful, isn’t it?” I said, “No. I used to work at Amazon. This is cake.”
Yes Nick, I believe in karma. I think there's good karma and bad karma that happens to a person, even though it's all just karma. I don't see instant karma, just in videos. Last month someone that didn't like me ran into some negative karma, at least that's the way I saw it. I like being around people that are happy, it gives off a good vibe as opposed to being with grumpy people. A smile can brighten my day, sometimes at the ranch but mostly with strangers now, young women that walk past me in the opposite direction, giving me a beautiful nice, natural smile without saying a word. Maybe I look like I need cheering up, and it works. At the ranches, I remember when I first saw @Natasha Star when she first started working, and the snapshot of her is still in my mind, she was lying down on a Sagebrush sofa, looking at me and giving me a dazzling friendly smile. You hear of people paying it forward now, maybe they believe in karma too.
Whenever I’m having a rough day, I wonder what kind of bad stuff I got away with in a past life that’s being collected on
Nice story. I had a similar experience in late May, except the damsel in distress was from Utah and she was passing through Reno where I'm stationed. Getting to play the "big brother" role, as I only have 4 older sisters, left me with an incredible feeling of empowerment. And having that in my back pocket (and in my heart), there was no way I was going to lose in the casino that day.
With all the unintentional random bad luck some board members have had recently, I wonder if karma is involved.
My lucky streak continued in Wendover...till I made the mistake of leaving the Peppermill for the Rainbow, then it went to hell. Note to self...stay in one casino.
I believe in karma and the saying what goes around, come around. There are good people without questions will help someone in need. Great job stay humble enjoy the blessing
Wow this is awesome. So kind of you to help a sister out and I absolutely believe in karma!! I’ve been told I’m a lucky charm do to others as you would have them do to you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now I don't think the change in venue is nearly as important as the patrons that are occupying them. If I had one of these vixens accompanying at the black jack table, I might double down on a hard 19 and draw a 2. Whereas others are black cat voodoo on 2 legs. These types, they could F.... Up a wet dream just by being in the same zip code
Firm believer in Karma, but I also believe humans make choices and thus consequences follow. Consequences are just that consequences, there is no "good" or "bad" associated with it, they are the results of choices.
I am not sure if I believe in karma anymore, because I see a lot of evil people getting away with their actions and good intentioned people always struggling. These are just my two cents.
I dabble in Buddhism so I am of the belief that the good you do in this life will allow you to be rewarded in your next.
No, because I've seen to many bad things happen to good people and to many good things happen to truly evil people. If Karma were real Vince Mcmahon would be spending the rest of his life in prison, and not just the most recent alligations either. But he's not and he never will.
