RANCH SPECIAL Veterans Day so much more than a Bank Holiday, it's a Day of Thanksgiving

While too many of us, look at today as just another Bank Holiday, or a day off from work, or a long weekend of Mattress Sales and many other commercial promotions. Actually to me it is a very special day to me and my son's (both Eagle Scouts) as I consider it a day of Thanksgiving. No there will be no big ass turkey dinner and family coming over, (that comes later in the month) but simply a day to recognize all of the Military for their dedication to protecting me and you. If you have the day off, enjoy your freedom as it was provided to you from our Military to keep America the Greatest country on God's Green Earth. I don't know what your community does but in my little part of Americana, we have already had our parade with all branches of the Military present, the HS Marching Band, and floats and dignitaries. I had the privilege to serve coffee, hot chocolate and donuts to over 100 active and retired Veterans.

I just wanted to take a moment and recognize that today is Veterans Day and I wish to thank @Air Force Amy for her service to our country. Yes it is true she is a former Air Force Veteran and continues to support all of Americans Veterans. While I do not know any other ladies that have military experience, the only board member that I know is the Great @hikino, my Hawaiian board buddy.

If there are others that have military experience please pardon my ignorance but I wish to Thank You! for your military service. While the US Military would not accept me as a volunteer in Gulf War 1 (I was too old to enlist or be an officer) I did serve my local community for 35 + years as a Volunteer Firefighter/First Responder. I know my service to the community can never ever equal the valor that both @Air Force Amy and @hikino and the others that have served their country proud.

If you happen to see a Military Veteran today please let them know I appreciate their service and sleep well at night knowing men and women like them are out there to keep me and ALL Americans safe and sound.

May God Bless all of our Veterans, especially those that have given the greatest sacrifice and those that continue to serve and protect the United States of America

 

Ok, I have just been informed that a New Kitty at Kit Kat @CatrinaLee is also a Veteran. While I do not know for sure which branch of our Magnificent Military it is great to recognize Catrina today, Veterans Day and a very WARM Thank You! for your service.

Welcome to the ranches and I hope you enjoy Kit Kat as much as I have over the past 3 years. It is a fun ranch and you have some wonderful friends there. Give @SophiaSun and Sondra a great big hug and DFK from me.

Served 6 yrs USAF 4 active 2 reserve myself... met some great people...great times

 

Thank you @RunningSquirrel for your service. I always felt the Air Force treated their Reserve and National Guard people better than the Army did.

 

Catrina, what branch were you in? And what was your MOS? As for me, I was in the Army National Guard, spent 3/4 of my career in the field artillery and the remainder as a finance nerd (13E and 73C).

my neighbor is a widowed JAG and full bird Colonel from the Air Force and I think she agrees with your observation.

My Navy and Army friends at the VFW Post often refer to their USAF colleagues as “Chair Force”
