It would be a sin for a single man NOT to go to a brothel. Every man should go to a brothel, not to would be the sin here.
Thread reboot - saw a link to a great New Yorker article today on the religious "purity industrial complex." https://www.newyorker.com/culture/q...stants-porn-and-the-purity-industrial-complex Tidbits: "...with conservative Protestants, you have this fascinating paradox of a group of people who hate pornography morally. They want to eradicate it from the world. And yet, statistically, they will view it slightly less often than your average American." "...it’s not necessarily that porn makes you depressed. It’s watching porn when you’ve already said that that’s an immoral thing and you don’t want to do it. That can lead to guilt and shame that makes you feel crappy about yourself...And yet they watch it just a little bit less than everybody else does, which means that they are experiencing this kind of moral incongruence quite often, and it has consequences for their mental health. They have a greater likelihood of experiencing depression and depressive symptoms, like feeling bad about yourself, feeling like there’s a sadness that you can’t shake. This also has to do with the experience of feeling like you need to hide or lie about it." [Raises hand - "Yes - been there, done that. Not going back to it, either."] "In terms of the cultural consequences, an entire subculture has built up around preventing young men and women from accessing pornography. There are a large portion of what we would consider men’s Bible studies or men’s groups, where they get together and they talk in gender-specific terms about the things that they deal with as men. A lot of that is dedicated toward, “Hey, did you look at pornography this week?” Or, “Did you masturbate this week?” There is, in fact, a cottage industry of software companies selling and marketing what we would call accountability software to conservative Christians. If the software detects that you searched for something shady online, it will send an e-mail to your “accountability partners,” and you’re basically tagging your friends, who will get an e-mail that says, “Hey, Sam or Isaac looked at whatever pornographic Web site.” So they could circle back with you and ask you about it. And that is something that people are paying money to put on their computers, to try to prevent themselves from viewing pornography." [This really happens. ]
I don’t know if I already mentioned this in this thread, but I live in a state that was built on group sex. So what most polygamists only had one wife per night? It’s still multiple partners! Hell, it would not surprise me if Brigham Young hosted orgies with his many wives, after all, he was in charge of Salt Lake City in those days. I sometimes wonder how many Mormons come to the ranches looking to fulfill their polygamy fantasies? Me? I’m just looking to spend some time with a woman I found fascinating.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” -- C. S. Lewis
I agree to that! Sexual desire is a physical, hormonal matter. Depriving ourselves of the pleasure is unhealthy and frankly depressing. I consider our modern legal brothels in Nevada, especially the BunnyRanch family, part of a man’s well being. Going to the ranch is not a sin. Whether your wife approves... well, that’s another matter.
