Campaign 2008

Sports Pleased with 'quarterbacks,' Bears botched Favre shot Jay Mariotti: When an ordeal stretches beyond the absurd, when the mere mention of a name causes more American cringing than a Mini-Me sex tape, the impossible becomes possible. The minute Brett Favre suggested he'd like to play for the Vikings or Bears, Halas Hall should have been on the case faster than flies on you-know-what. The minute the Packers acknowledged such a trade as a ``last resort'' resolution, Jerry Angelo should have been plotting.

He spent about three hours Friday watching Griffey in the lineup with nothing but a smile on his face.
Karstens a perfect '10 The magic number for the Pittsburgh Pirates might be 2010, a year when the young talent the Bucs have acquired in the last two weeks might gel enough to make them contenders. Business United says it has deal with pilots to limit slowdowns United Air Lines said Friday it has reached an agreement with the pilot's union to limit what the company calls work slowdowns that forced cancellation of hundreds of flights and cost millions of dollars. Neither the airline nor the union disclosed specifics of the agreement, which was worked out behind closed doors and is to be in effect pending Aug. 27-28 hearings on a federal lawsuit seeking a preliminary injunction.
