Partying By Moonlite At The Bunnyranch
LYONS COUNTY, Nev. — "So just how old are you?" we inquired of Moonlite Bunnyranch owner Dennis Hof at his gala birthday party last Friday night.
"I'm as old as the gal I'm with," Hof responded.
Then, turning to the busty blonde beauty at his side, he asked, "How old are you, darlin'?"
"I'm 19," she giggled.
"That's it," Hof declared. "I'm 19."
We never did find out just how old Hof is — he looks in his 40s, but we seem to recall hearing somewhere that he's considerably older — but we did learn that his birthday falls on the same date in September that the Bunnyranch was founded, 46 years ago.
"We do this party every year," Hof told AVNInsider.com. "There's anywhere from 700 to 1000 people here, some very interesting people — a lot of our high-roller clients."
Among the "interesting people" in the gigantic tent, where the refreshments and open bar were housed, would have to be counted "famous brother" Jimmy Flynt, who usually had a gal on each arm; 'Stuttering Jon' from the Howard Stern Show; Joey Buttafucco, his Long Island scandal days now behind him, hanging out with what appeared to be a steady girlfriend and Ron Jeremy; and Divine Brown, who, according to Hof, was "checking guys' pants to see if there was anything that looked like Hugh Grant."
Plenty of press had arrived to cover the event, including the expected adult press photographers, reporters and camerapeople from BBC Television, several local radio personalities and even one from as far away as Portland, Oregon.
There were, however, just a few of the usual porn personalities. Jeremy was, of course, all over the place, making deals and arranging private shows for friends and business acquaintances, but we also spotted Lisa Ryder, late of New Sensations' Dark Angels — "I figured that was a good movie to go out on." — darkly beautiful Joy, who can be seen recently in Video Team's My Baby Got Back 23, and statuesque blonde Trinity, all of whom are now Bunnyranch regulars. (To be fair, however, there were several starlets who asked not to be mentioned by name, fearing the eventual wrath of "narrow-minded producers.")
Also in the crowd were "Magic Don Juan," a brothel owner who appeared with Hof in the documentary American Pimp, plus some other owner-friends of Hof from Chicago; and rapper Humpty Hump from Digital Underground, who mounted the stage at the back of the tent for a few impromptu rap numbers while the (largely female) crowd "got down."
"The Bunnyranch always keeps about 40 girls working," Hof told AVNInsider.com on Saturday. "Last night, they doubled up on a lot of the rooms, because a lot of the girls wanted to be here, so there were like 65 girls here last night, and at my sister house, Kitty's, there was another 40, and we brought them over for the last hour and a half of the party, so there were over 100 working girls at one spot, working the deal and having fun... At one time, there were 50, 60 girls out there dancing, and the next thing you know, they started doing each other and getting down, and all of a sudden, one of them wanted to go down on Sunset Thomas, and that was it; they all wanted to go down on her. They love Sunset; when she's here, the girls love it."
And all this under the watchful eye of several local sheriff's deputies — because in this part of Nevada, it's all legal!
"Last night was the biggest night of the year we've had so far," Hof summarized. "The girls did huge, huge business. There were two girls that made over $12,000 a piece last night; one made $20,000. Huge business. This place is just hips, slips and fingertips — and has been for the last 46 years."
