Work Out Routine Of A Mid 30’s Male

    This is not a perfect formula for everyone, but one of my friends here was kind enough to share his work out routine. You can use it or base your exercises on it.

    Monday: 4-5 mile run, then lift lower body

    Tuesday:

    • Lift upper body
    • 50 jumping jack warmup
    • 2 set of 15 dips
    • lateral pull downs (4 sets of 10 reps, increase weight each set)
    • curls (curved bar, two warm up sets, then 5 sets of 10 reps (increase weight between set 2 and 3), finish with light set of 25 reps)
    • standing rows (I use same curved bar as curls, 2 warm up sets, then 4 sets of 8 (increase weight between set 2 and 3))
    • one more light set of curls 25 reps
    • bench press (6 sets, pyramid weight) 2 sets of 10, then 1 set of 8, 1 set of 6, 1 set of 4, one set of 2, then one set of 25 light weight
    • sitting rows (one warm up set, then 5 sets of 10)
    • shoulder shrugs (2 warm up sets, then 4 sets of 10)
    • tri pulldowns ( one warm up set, then 4 sets of 10)
    • 20-30 minutes on elliptical

    Thursday/Friday: repeat Monday/Tuesday

    Saturday: 30-40 minutes elliptical

    Work sit-ups, leg lifts etc in as you see fit.

    People may balk at lifting lower body same day as run, but it works for me.

    I can’t remember off the top of my head what machines I use for lower body except the sled, I’ll have to get back to you on that.

    It works for him. Also, try to do more protein in your diet.

  4. I've never felt comfortable at the gym. Guess I'll have to get over it if I want to get healthier.
