Campaigning
through Northern Nevada today, Republican presidential candidate Ron
Paul picked up the enthusiastic support of Nevada brothel owner Dennis
Hof.
After
sitting through a 20-minute press conference with Paul, Hof vowed to
put up a collection box outside the door of his Moonlight Bunny Ranch
brothel to take up contributions for the candidate who he says, "Makes
a lot of sense, doesn't he?"
"I'll
do it today," he said. "I'll get all the Bunnies together and we can
raise him some money. I'll put up a collection box outside the door.
They can drop in $1 dollar, $5 dollar contributions. What a great way
for the working girls to support Ron Paul. It's just the right thing to
do."
Paul's
campaign was surprised to see Hof, flanked by two prostitutes, emerge
from a limousine outside of Lawlor Events Center this morning. They
arrived with MSNBC journalist Tucker Carlson, who has been traveling
with Paul for a piece he's writing for the New Republic. (Carlson stopped to pose with Brooke Taylor above. Photo by James Ball, RGJ)
"Dennis
Hof is a good friend of mine, so when we got to Nevada I decided to
call him up and see if he wanted to come check this guy out," Carlson
said.
Hof
said Paul's anti-establishment, libertarian platform of "live and let
live" resonates in a state that permits legalized prostitution.
While
Paul professes a limited-government philosophy, he's also hews to a
deep Christian faith, is pro-life and reportedly is so traditional that
he doesn't travel alone with women.
Campaign spokesman Jeff Greenspan said he doesn't think Paul will have any problem accepting the brothel's money.
"On
a personal basis, he doesn€™t condone those things," Greenspan said.
"At the same time, from his campaign perspective, it's not the role of
federal government and it's not in the constitution for federal
government to regulate these thing. The Nevada voters and Legislature
have decided it is a legal activity in this state."
While
Hof declared his support for Paul, working girls Air Force Amy and
Brooke Taylor were a little more discreet. They said they wanted to
learn more about all of the candidates before making a decision.
You have got to be kidding me.
Good job Ron Paul PCC --- this will certainly help toward the 60 MILLION VOTES we need to WIN in 2008.
I am tired of your focus on education and determination NOT to WIN.
Nice article, thanks!
Right now, what the campaign needs is $$ and publicity. This will bring a bit of both - which furthers the cause toward WINNING. Unless you are out there writing letters, donating and canvassing your neighborhood and doing whatever you can to spread the message, complaints about RP PCC not doing enough are like farts in the wind. This is a grass-roots effort, not a 'politics as usual' campaign.
More of the same, or Ron Paul for Change... It is up to US!
who cares Ron is king.
Isn't it so doggone refreshing to see the various people who will support Ron Paul because of his views to support the Constitution and let liberty reside with the people??
The Main Stream Media tries to sling mud at Ron Paul-our next President- for attracting a diverse group of disenfranchised voters.
The momentum is more and more powerful each and every day...
Tucker Carlson is obviously trying to undermine the Ron Paul campaign. He has been very disrespectul to Paul and his supporters over the last couple of months, even though he purportedly likes him. Now, he uses his position of privilege as an embedded journalist with the campaign, calls up a pimp and 2 hookers ans has them show up in a limo, UNBEKNOWNST to the campaign, to partipate in a PRESS CONFERENCE? Completely inappropriate by any standards. He is trying to turn the campaign into a circus so he can write a juicy article.
Freedom is Popular!
"so traditional that he doesn't travel alone with women"
Maybe it's being traditional, or maybe it's force of habit--he is, after all, an OB/GYN and the good male ones are very careful about avoiding anything that could be viewed as unprofessional.
LOL! That's great! I mean that's terrible! No!!! It's great! A definite maybe, LOL!!
As a Christian I guess you can guess what I think about prostitution. As a Libertarian I guess you can guess what I think of big, intrusive government.
Conflict? No! It is not the job of government to regulate moral behavior. It is the job of the individual, with the help of the family, friends and church.
If there is any one sin that is worse than any other, it is to force others to follow one's belief system. True Christianity forbids the use of force. What good is it to do what's right if someone is forcing you?
Ron Paul wants to get government out of the way. Of course, some people are going to engage in things like prostitution, gambling and drugs. But as long as they are not hurting anyone else, it is not the job of government in a free country to intervene.

Hey, redsoxgirl...Tucker Carlson didn't just now begin to like Ron Paul. He voted for Ron Paul in 1988. He's been a fan for at least 20 years.
