Pimp pajama party
By David Robert

Moonlite Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof celebrated his birthday with a pajama party Nov. 5 at the NV 50 Ultra Lounge in Carson City. Guests were encouraged to wear their PJs to the event, and many party-goers did, from sexy, skimpy lingerie to “Hef”-type smoking jackets. The entertainment bill listed several DJs, and the evening’s high points came from hit rapper Afroman, most famous for his international hit, “Because I got High,” and original 2 Live Crew member Mr. Mixx. Hof introduced Mr. Mixx as one of his First Amendment heroes. (And he mentioned that Larry Flynt, who wasn’t in attendance but who’d called Hof earlier in the day to wish him a happy birthday, is also one of his First Amendment heroes.)

Mr. Mixx served up some of the most memorable X-rated songs from 2 Live Crew, who stirred up controversy with the 1989 album, As Nasty as They Wanna Be. Hits like “Me So Horny” and “One And One,” which made 2 Live Crew early parental-warning-label pioneers, had dancers at the Ultra Lounge up on stage bumping and grinding. Just after the stroke of midnight, the party exhibited no signs of slowing down; Mr. Mixx and birthday-boy Hof jumped onto the stage to sing with Afroman.
