You can really enjoy astronomy without any special equipment right here:

Today it's comet ISON and it is brightening now magnitude 7 not naked eye range but can see with good binoculars in the East just before dawn I am gonna start looking. No one knows how bright it will get after it passes around the sun...hopefully very! Then in Dec it will be seen after sunset in the West and maybe we are in for a treat but I don't get hopes too high.

  6. When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut.

This is a nice wide angle pic taken in the Southern Hemisphere I think comet McNaught was only seen from the Southern hemishpere. Let's hope comet ISON brightens like this!!

There's something sexy and romantic about astronomy, funny that it's mostly men in the hobby....need more women!!

Comet ISON is gone but there were many images taken while it brightened as it approached the sun before dying this was a nice time lapsed
    video of ISON rising.

Loved it. How nice would be to have a ceiling look like the ski full of star, huh?

This pics was said to be taken in China, could we have seen the same from carson?
Btw, next time you are here, I have to tell you a super cool place to go to watch stars.

Not sure if we would have seen as many in Carson, looked up at around midnight and saw none, but that pic is a long exposure so you see many at one time. I'd love to know a dark site there but I might have to give up a night at the ranches to do astronomy and wouldn't wanna do that right? Astronomy gets me through the long months when I can't visit;)
