All of a sudden, for two days now I've had to log back in nearly every time I visit the forum. I thought it might've just been some site maintenance going on, but no. I always check the little "keep me logged in" box too. Then randomly, after navigating a few pages, it'll say "Log In/ Sign Up" (instead of displaying my username, inbox and alerts), so I then know I've been kicked out.

Funny thing is, if I then hit "Back", to go to the previous page, I'm suddenly logged in again. But all other pages show me logged out. And I'll definitely be logged out if I'm away from the site for any amount of time.

I do see - to the left of the address window - that it always says "Bunnyranch.com is not a secure connection", and it warns me about it.

    unsecure.png

So I tried installing the "HTTPS Everywhere" add-on for Firefox, but, no difference in behavior. Haven't had this trouble in Internet Explorer yet.

I've tried rebooting, I've tried updating Firefox, turning off my anti-virus's Firefox add-on, unchecking "Enable HTTPS scanning" in my anti-virus...

    Thanks for any insights.

Woops. Nope. Just after midnight Central time, and I was just knocked off again.

  5. Thought it was just me! Not just the Bunny Board but another site I usually visit (no, not porn HA HA) kept asking me for a log-in, too.
That was occurring last night and this morning but everything seems to be okay again (using Safari). Hope it's the same for you.

Were you using Safari when it was happening, or did you switch to Safari to stop it from happening?

Last 48 hours it's been ok

  11. @Slider , guess I spoke too soon. Right after I last posted, suddenly, got kicked off-line while on the Bunny board yet no problems re-logging in last night but ok for now.

  12. Try resetting your cookies- thats what fixed the error for me!

I've isolated one particular cookie, "xf_user" (in Firefox's Bunnyranch.com cookie folder) which, unlike all the other cookies, has a heading which reads, "Send For: Encrypted connections only". All the other cookies say, "Send For: Any type of connection". So maybe when the browser senses it's not a secure connection, it doesn't then send that particular cookie to keep me (the "user" in "fx_user", presumably) - logged in.

I'll try deleting that one and see what happens.

Okay, it's the next day now. I deleted that cookie and it seemed to do fine for quite a while. But then around 5 this morning it happened again. So I went in and deleted ALL the cookies for Bunnyranch. Thing is, when I then re-logged in, it of course re-populated with new cookies, but this time, the "xf_user" cookie said "Send for: Any type of connection". And it indeed kept me logged in...

    Bunnyranch cookie - user - any.JPG

...that is, until 1:30 this afternoon.

Upon examining the cookies again, I noticed that the heading for not only the "xf_user" cookie but also the "xf_session" cookie had somehow been changed to "Send for: Encrypted connections only".

    Bunnyranch cookie - user - enc.JPG
    Bunnyranch cookie - session - enc.JPG

And at that point, it even started to keep me from logging in AT ALL - let alone staying logged in. So I again deleted all the Bunnyranch cookies, and it again let me log back in, and it re-populated with new cookies. But this time, both of the aforementioned cookies now said "Send for "Any type of connection", and it's again (temporarily) behaving fine.

So apparently these "Encrypted connection only" cookies are being periodically sent, overriding the "Any type of connection" cookies, and knocking me (us) off. I wonder if the forum honchos read these threads. Because it looks like the problem could be originating from XenForo (the outfit that makes the forum software). (The "xf" in the cookie names stands for XenForo.)

I'm curious, RS: Was that other site, by chance, run by XenForo (usually displayed at the bottom of the site)?

Happened a few times last night
    Been fine today
    Thanks for looking into it

  22. The strange thing is that on my computer I've not had any problems at all...no issues with it kicking me out.

Those that are having issues - are you running "safe browsing" software (browser anti-virus)?

  23. @Slider, no, it wasn't. Thanks for taking the time to demo what you did to hopefully solve the log-in issues...FG, too.

Well, it's been a couple days now, and...

    ...no issues. :)

All Bunnyranch cookies appear to be retaining their "Send for: Any type of connection" headings, while the "Send for: Encrypted connections only" headings (which coincided perfectly with the login problems) have not reappeared.

Thanks, @freakygeek , for attending to the problem. Whether the fix is directly attributable to the tweaks you guys made, or some other unknown weird factor, you've shown you're responsive to members' requests for technical help.

    Hopefully it's fixed for everyone. ( @grizzly ? @John N Ga ? @RunningSquirrel ? @greeneyedude ?) If so, we might all be able to "hop along" merrily now. br-logoCROP3smaller.jpg

On Android Chrome, I think the only way you can inspect individual cookie info is by plugging your phone into a desktop/laptop and following the procedure detailed here:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/36101403/how-do-i-extract-and-view-cookies-from-android-chrome

(And I guess you're already familiar with how to simply delete cookies on Android Chrome) :

    https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&hl=en

I use Firefox on my Windows laptop most of the time (that's where these login issues were happening), but when I do use my phone - which is also Android, and on which I also use Firefox - I did not have the login problems. Nor did I have them when I used Internet Explorer on the laptop.

So, if your Chrome + Bunnyranch situation becomes intolerable, I suppose you could always consider downloading Firefox (or IE) to your phone, and using that browser solely for the forum (until the Chrome issue gets sorted)?...

Also, feel free to use this thread to continue troubleshooting with @freakygeek if you want.

(and that goes for anyone else having this issue.)

Still having this issue and when navigating to pages, I'm being redirected to who ever is first on their following list. The only way I found around this is to have the mouse over the person of interest and right click and press "Open in New Window" otherwise I get moved to whoever is first on their following list. I realize it's technology but damn its a message board and it's annoying AF.

LOL I wish, ever since the new message board design it's a constant struggle to stay logged on. Maybe I'm just better off not visiting the message board at all.

@freakygeek Hey Freak, has anything been figured out with the having to log on when liking or posting. It chronically logs off, and before it's posted I have to log back in. I've cleared the cache a couple times, but nada?
