For the wrestling fans, who's your all-time favorite wrestlers? I'll start: Ric Flair Jerry Lawler Randy Savage The Road Warriors Dusty Rhodes Terry Funk Steve Austin Gino Hernandez CM Punk MJF Eddie Kingston Don Bass Roddy Piper The Sheik
Here are mine. Undertaker Kane Samoa Joe Sting Jeff Hardy Matt Hardy Stone Cold Steve Austin Mick Foley Triple H Eddie Guerrero JBL Kurt Angle Jeff Jarrett Randy Orton Goldust The Rock Martin Casaus (he was on Lucha Underground as Marty The Moth and local Utah talent) Manny Lemons (local Utah talent who’d made appearances in AEW and WWE and he’s a friend) Lita Sabu Rob Van Dam
Rough timeline..... Dominic DeNucci Bruno Sammartino Larry Zbyszko Hulk Hogan Sgt Slaughter Tommy Wildfire Rich Dusty Rhodes Magnum T.A. Rock and Roll Express Sting Lex Luger Mick Foley Stone Cold Steve Austin The Rock HHH Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) LA Knight
Going old-school, growing up watching Wrestling at the Chase back in the day here in STL: Dick The Bruiser Von Raschke Pretty Boy Bobby Heenan (you may remember him as The Brain, but he'll always he OUR Pretty Boy!!) Black Jack Lanza
Was it Skandar Akbar or Gary Hart that managed him in World Class? I'm thinking it was Skandar Akbar. Interesting character, great villain.
Good call, my Uncle Bo's favorite wrestlers was Dick the Bruiser. He and the Crusher were a tag team force to ve reckoned with. Imo, Bobby Heenan is clearly the greatest manager of all-time. If there was a manager's Mt. Rushmore, it's Heenan, Jim Cornette, Jimmy Hart and Paul Heyman.
There's so many, I need to add a few more: Austin Idol Kevin, David and Kerry Von Erich The Great Muta Jake Roberts Bam Bam Bigelow The Fabulous Freebirds Doom The Steiner Brothers Nick Bockwinkel Charlotte Bill Dundee Harley Race Ricky Steamboat
Adding on to Brent's list: Dory Funk, Jr. Bulldog Bob Brown Ox Baker (he always used to pick on the poor ring announcer, Mickey Gargiola. Yep, Joe's brother.) Nature Boy Ric Flair (To be the man -- you've got to beat the man. WOO!!!!) Jack and Jerry Brisco Big Cat Ernie Ladd And a shout out to the greatest promotor of all-time: Sam Muchnick in St. Louis (yeah, I'm biased *lol*)
I forgot to put The Fabulous Freebirds.. And... Midnight Express with Jim Cornette Jake the Snake Roberts Macho Man Randy Savage Andre the Giant Sooo many
Great call on Ox Baker, one of the greatest heels of the territories era. I saw him in ICW (Angelo Poffo's wrestling company) and in Memphis. He had good feuds with Ronnie Garvin and Jerry Lawler. Jimmy Hart managed him in Memphis. Dory Funk, Jr and Terry were 2 of the greatest but very tremendous for different reasons. And Dory was World Champion for 5 years. I love the Briscos. I remember Wade Biggs saying that Jack Brisco was his favorite wrestler. Ernie Ladd was tremendous being a wrestling hall of famer and a football hall of famer. Loved the big boot.
All Hall of Famers Gotta add Bruiser Brody, the Andersons, the Junkyard Dog, Jacke Fargo and Joe Leduc.
I remember logging in on my AOL and looking at their albums and videos in the middle of the night. Ong - showing my age!!
I thought I'd pass this along. We lost another baddass last night, Ole Anderson. He will famously be remembered as a member of the original four horsemen, the most popular wrestling act not named Hulk Hogan during the 1980's. There was no gray area with those guys, you either loved or hated them.
This is the first I've heard about it, and Al Rogowski (real name of Ole Anderson), was not only a bad-ass, he was also a booker for his territory, and with his cousin, Gene, part of the feared Minnesota Wrecking Crew, one of the best tag teams of their era. RIP Ole/Al, and thanks for everything .
Another thing about Ole was he was the voice behind the black scorpion during the late early nineties during the black scorpion / sting feud.
I have to go with sting, taker, randy savage , Jake Roberts and rodfy piper just fir pure ability to tell the story n play with your minds. I'd have to include national treasure that is r truth.
Ole Anderson was definitely one of the greatest Jack of all trades in wrestling. A few extras I'm aware of are that he paired the Road Warriors, he gave Randy Poffo the new last name of Savage because Ole said he wrestled like a Savage plus he and Gene brought Ric Flair from the AWA to Mid Atlantic. I loved his feuds with Dusty Rhodes before and during the 4 horsemen era. I remember quite well when he, Arn and Flair broke Dusty's ankle and a year later, he, Arn and J.J. Dillon along with a baseball bat attacked Dusty Rhodes in a parking lot and broke his wrist. I was fortunate enough to see Ole a couple of times, once as world tag team champions with Stan Hansen vs. Ivan Putski and Tom Prichard then a few years later teaming with Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard vs. Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA and Jerry the King Lawler in a mo count out, no disqualification street fight.
I'm a big fan of all those guys you mentioned. R Truth, IMO, is the biggest reason to watch Monday Night Raw right now.
I’ve been a wrestling fan my entire life. So, here are my favorites, in no particular order, except for the one at the top of the list. The Undertaker Macho Man Randy Savage Kenny Omega The Hart Foundation (Bret “Hit Man” Hart & Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart) “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase “Ravishing” Rick Rude Rob Van Dam The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Mr. A**) Vader Bam Bam Bigelow FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) Sting The nWo “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy Paige / Saraya
