But my suggestion for you would be Christian Kane. Most people probably know him for his acting on TNT's Leverage, but he's also an accomplished singer. He debuted a major studio album last year, The House Rules, but he also has some lesser known albums with his band which you can find on youtube or groove shark. His major label album is more modern country, but his other stuff has a bit of rock-country and some bluegrass feel to it. I recommend it for anyone who's a fan of any type of country music.

I totally thought of Ruby when I saw the trailer for that movie!

So I have been listening to this band Band of Skulls. They are so incredible. Their song "Sweet Sour" gets some radio play right now but it is by far not there best song. I recently got to guest DJ on morning radio show and played some of their other songs. the regular host of the show has since told me that they are his new favorite band. I actually think their first album "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey" is their better album. The thing that I really appreciate about them is that no song sounds like the one before it. I can literally listen to the both albums continuously all day. Give them a listen and let me know what you think. Two songs to try are

I love music and this is a great idea to get exposure to some new stuff.

I would recommend Bruce Springsteen's "Wrecking Ball" and Richie Sambora's "Aftermath of the Lowdown". Those have turned out to be two great cd's I've found this year so far.

Kane had a few songs from when he was on the show ANGEL also. he did a scene for his girls of LA song. ( dont think thats the name of it actually) where he sings with only his guitar. its on the Angel soundtrack.

This is an older song, that most of you have probably heard already, but its one of a handful of rap songs that I actually like. For me, listening to it is very ... motivational, I guess

I know I just replied to this thread a few days ago, but I thought since it was supposed to be about "something new", that I would make a new post . Not sure how well foreign language music is liked around here, but I guess we'll see

First off, my musical tastes tend to run towards hard rock/heavy metal (love White Zombie, ZZ Top), but I do like and listen to a lot of other types of music.
One of these is a bit ... unusual for me, and probably no one would guess that I listen to. I was introduced to a lot of Japanese music while studying for my minor (in Japanese, oddly enough ), and took a liking to most of it, Jpop in particular

One of my favorite artists is Kumi Koda, an extremely popular singer and very prolific. I've linked a few of her PVs below.

Koda Kumi - Aishou - this is one of my favorite songs of Kumi's. I might ought to give a bit of Japanese history lesson here, might clarify part of the imagery of the video.
"Geisha are stereotypically known as prostitutes, but this is very wrong. Geisha are dancers, musicians, entertainers, and conversationalists who were at the height of Japanese society; not prostitutes. If a geisha was having hard times and resulted to prositution, then she was no longer allowed to be a geisha, and she was shunned from the geisha community.

There are a few major differneces between geisha and prostitutes that are quite noticeable. A prostitute ties her obi in the front, and wears flamboyant, multilayered kimono. Prostitutes started tying their obi in the front because all night long they were constantly getting out of their kimono. It was far too difficult for a prostitute to neatly tie her obi in the back over and over again. As a result, they started quickly tying them in the front, and this became their signature thing. A prostitute was also famous for wearing flashy hairpeices and lots of them. It was obvious to tell who was a prostitute just by looking at them.

A geisha is much more elegant and classy than a prostitute, and it is easy to tell this just by their appearance. The geisha exquisitely tied her obi in the back. The geisha also has paler colored kimono than the prostitues, and they were moremodest than the prostitutes. A geisha also wears only two or three simple hair ornaments."
