Back from New York with the wonderful, Jade Capri, and much to report! Here I will spill all the dirty secrets of how we spent our days and show the evidence via pictures Haha, just kidding about the dirty part But seriously, I'm going to give a day by day report and pictures will follow! I hope you guys like it; we missed you all!
Day One: I had my first experience with the subway! First thing I saw, RATS. Well, just one. Later in the trip I saw a few more and....a dead one! So gross. We made our way to the Museum of Natural History. It was so BIG and so much information, it was almost overwhelming! Very educational, which would explain why we saw so many school field trips. We saw one of the special attractions (forget what it was called) and it was all about the stars, and the whole ceiling lit up like the night sky; it was pretty cool. We spent a great deal of time exploring all the different exhibits, but my favorite was the Ocean Life exhibit. I love learning about the ocean and all the animals! Plus, they had a big whale hanging from the ceiling. After spending many hours there, we left and ate at a cute little deli place near 5th Avenue. We then walked around all the stores, went inside Tiffany's (where Audrey Hepburn has stood!), did some shopping, and then went back home.

They say you can spot tourists in the city because they are always looking up

The whale!

Inside joke between Jade and I

St. Patrick's Cathedral

Rockafeller's ice skating rink.
Day Two: Woke up and took the subway again. This time we went to the Empire State Building. The line was very short, surprisingly, so within about fifteen minutes we were already up at the top! It was super super windy! One side, you got blown away, and the other side wasn't so bad. You'll be able to see what I mean by the pictures The view was amazing. The buildings and everything looked like lego pieces that I could just pick up and play with! I bet it looks even better at night with all the lights. We left for lunch and then later that night we went to Mary Poppins on Broadway (thank you Crock!!!) and it was great! The cast was so good, especially the guy who played Bert It wasn't exactly like the movie, but I understand why the added in parts and moved some stuff around. Either way, it was a great performance. I loved it!

Resemblance?

Haha that guy's expression cracks me up!

For my sister -- she kept joking with me not to come home with I love New York tshirt!

Amsterdam Theater! So pretty!
Day Three: My favorite day! We went to Central Park, and it was just beyond lovely. It made me so happy! Even in the winter time! It was so peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful. There were two guys playing the violin and the cello and they were so good. I could have sat and listened to them all day. We went over to the ice skating rink and I got a hot dog (how New York of me! ) The one thing I wish we would have done is ride in one of the carriages with the horses. Ah well, next time! We then went home, got ready, and went to the Lion King on Broadway! It was super good! Amazing! The costumes and stage props were breathtaking, and everyone did a great job performing. No wonder it's so popular, because it was great. Put it on your bucket list

The trip was great, and I can't wait to go back to NYC again. Next time I go will be with my sister and brother-in-law and I know we'll have a great time as well! I just touched the tip of the ice berg with this trip and I know New York has so much more to offer than just the obvious touristy things
Here are some thoughts while we were flying back, and I decided to write them down so I could tell you guys:
- People are so nice and friendly in NY! Better than the west coast. especially LA. - Everyone wears black, including myself. - Cops in the subway will try to hit on you, and they didn't like my quick tongue to shut them down. - Rats (dead and alive) and good singers occupy the subways. - I didn't see one person with an ereader; all reading actual books and newspapers - Public transportation is the way to go. I wouldn't own a car if I lived in the city, or even outside of it. - Times square is tourist central - I didn't like it. - However, I fell in love with Central Park. - It is essential to own many coats during the winter, along with scarves, gloves, hats, everything. - I don't think I would shop as much if I lived in NYC, mainly because it's so expensive ! - Some taxi drivers really don't know how to navigate through the city. - An abundance of attractive people, and not in a "fake" looking way. - Broadway: you stole my heart! - The best food doesn't come from the overly glam places. - I did a lot, but there is still so much more! New York, I'm not done with you!
I love New York!

Nice pics, glad you enjoy yourselves.
I was there several years ago on a day trip in the middle of February and it was sooooo cold. Yeah Times Square was too touristy.
Lol. My brother and I did spend alotta time in the Natural History Museum. Did ya go in the planetarium? Lol. I fell asleep in there.
Had fun in Central Park too! Did you visit Belvedere Tower?
We had to stop by Ground Zero this was well before it became the World Trade Center Memorial Park.

Nice job with this post. Good that you knocked out much of the tourist stuff on the first trip so won't have to do that stuff again in your next visits.
I love NY museums but the Natural History Museum to me was something that we had to do when we were in the 2nd/3rd grades, etc. I never had the desire to go back as an "adult." Now my favorites include Guggenheim, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum and Museum of Modern Art.
Next time I would recommend going to see live music in one of the clubs in the Village. Also instead of hitting up Broadway, check out an Off Broadway or and Off Off Broadway show. Less touristy and just as good - just without the $30 million startup cost. Many of those will eventually make it big on Broadway and you can say, "yeah, I saw it a couple of years ago!" as others are just discovering it.
Some restaurants are an experience. For example, Peter Luger's is world famous and they only have 1 thing on the menu. But bring cash (they don't accept cards) and be prepared to be barked at if you pause while ordering (it's part of the charm). lol

I am glad you had a great time in NY. So, that is what the Empire State Building looks like from above, cool. You 2 look very cold up there. If you were to take the subway during rush hour, I bet you will have a second opinion about the subway hehe. When you take a taxi, you have to be careful that they are not taking you for a ride. It happened to me before, he tried to take a longer route. But, since I am a new yorker I know my streets. I had to take over and tell the taxi driver where to go. Looking forward to seeing more of your fun pics. RubyRae wrote: Back from New York with the wonderful, Jade Capri, and much to report! Wow, thanks for sharing such a detailed report of your trip! All the pics were really great, and I'm happy to hear Jade and you had such a fun time! It looks like a lot of fun there, and I particularly like the parts about the Ocean Life Exhibit and Central Park. I really like ocean animals, particularly whales, dolphins, and penguins (I can watch penguins in the zoo for hours and hours at a time!). And that is a really big whale they have hanging there in the exhibit! You'll have to tell me about this exhibit when I'm there in two weeks. I also enjoy listening to musicians playing in outdoor settings, and that must've been quite an experience to hear them at the Park. I need to visit there some day! Really good photos of the park too. I can feel the cold just from looking at the pics, but it also looks like very beautiful scenery there. Great job of capturing your trip on film and with words, I really enjoyed reading all about it! And that one pic of you looking up, Ruby, I would've never been able to tell that you were a tourist... DayTripper wrote: Nice job with this post.
But bring cash (they don't accept cards) and be prepared to be barked at if you pause while ordering (it's part of the charm). lol I quite enjoyed the Museum of Natural History. Even though it does have a lot of information that is understandable to kids, doesn't mean it's any less educational for adults, or interesting. I bet the Museum of Modern Art is nice, but I much prefer vintage I agree about the off-Broadway shows, but I still enjoy the ones who do make it to Broadway. There's a reason why they are there They are good, and I don't mind paying extra money for a good show! Peter Luger's, I will put it on my to-do list! Thanks for the tips ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

It was very cold! But the view makes it worth it We were caught in the subway during rush hour. It was crowded, but not that bad! We found a way to squeeze in That's it for the pictures, so I hope you liked them! ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

camiparker wrote: I'm glad you girls had so much fun! I miss my home so much... the greatest place in the world, HANDS DOWN and I'll smack anyone that begs to differ!!! I visit a lot but it's just not the same... what neighborhood/hotel did you girls stay in??
My thoughts on your thoughts:
-People are so nice and friendly in NY! Better than the west coast. especially LA. YEP!! People in LA are so snobby. People say New Yorkers are rude, but truthfully we are just really busy and that's a totally different thing - Everyone wears black, including myself. YEP!! Clasic glamour - Cops in the subway will try to hit on you, and they didn't like my quick tongue to shut them down. YEP!! But they are pretty charming... they got the game AND the sexy uniform! - Rats (dead and alive) and good singers occupy the subways. YEP!! Did you see the lady in the 42nd street station that always sings the Titanic song my Celine Dion? - I didn't see one person with an ereader; all reading actual books and newspapers YEP!! I love that... - Public transportation is the way to go. I wouldn't own a car if I lived in the city, or even outside of it. I've never driven a day in my life, and have no plans of starting any time soon! - Times square is tourist central - I didn't like it. No REAL New Yorker does - However, I fell in love with Central Park. It is so beautiful, especially since Giulliani cleaned it up - It is essential to own many coats during the winter, along with scarves, gloves, hats, everything. ABSOLUTELY! But there s so much shopping to be done, you can find a plethora of sexy warm pieces - I don't think I would shop as much if I lived in NYC, mainly because it's so expensive ! I bet you would! I shopped all the time, because it's kind of all there is to do during the day LOL Nothing wrong with spending your rent money on new shoes.... LOL! - Some taxi drivers really don't know how to navigate through the city. Yes they do. They just pretend they don't so they can give you the ol okeedoke and drive you in circles so you end up paying 3 times more than you should. Especially if they pick you up outside of a hotel or you seem even slightly unsure of your destination. Just start yelling about calling 311 (The NYC Taxi and Limosuine Commission) and reporting them and you'll find yourself conveniently at your destination in under a minute lol - An abundance of attractive people, and not in a "fake" looking way. Very true - Broadway: you stole my heart! Absolutely. If you are alone you can go to the TKTS booth in times square in the hours before show time and always get an uber cheap ticket for an unsold seat (I say alone, because they have single seats left over more often than pairs) - The best food doesn't come from the overly glam places. NOPE! Sometimes it does, but mostly not. I love street food, especially chicken and rice and chicken kabobs, and the Paninis in the cafes and bodegas - I did a lot, but there is still so much more! New York, I'm not done with you! You'll never do it all. EVER! Even if you lived 100 lives and spent every minute of all of them in the heart of the city
I'm so happy you got to meet my one true love!!! Love you Ruby!!!
I am so happy that you replied to my thoughts about it! I knew you would! Love you, Cami! You are the best! ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

MusicMan Yes! I love ocean animals, so everything in that exhibit was very cool. That museum is full of interesting things and information. The live music in Central Park was absolutely amazing! I could have honestly stayed there all day and listened to them played. It was beautiful. I think if I lived in NYC, I would spend a lot of time in Central Park ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

And I'm not done with NY either, even though for me it's been 6.5 years. But you and Jade certainly covered a lot of ground, and had such a wonderful time in such a short stay... ...and those Empire State building pics, they are just so awesome, even though it must of felt like being at the North Pole. But what a contrast for Jade though? First she experiences Summer like conditions a continent away and then only a few days later, experiences blizzard like conditions on the observation deck?? Sheesh!! Question - wondering if you got to view the John Lennon memorial section when you visited Central Park?

We did covered several touristic places but she still have so much to see! It was soo cold and windy there! I was a contrast from 100 degrees to teens. But the dryness is what gets me the most. ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

Ruby, let me start out by saying you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I started out checking out the Bunny Ranch after watching an episode of cat house on HBO and I finally wound up at the sister site. I have always been interested as it was. I came upon your pictures and I was like OMG!!
I think I may have seen you in the park by the fountain. I was with my wife and we both commented on how gorgeous you were. At least someone who was wearing a similar hat with red hair any way. Wife loved the hat and TY we spent several hours trying to find one she liked.
I wish I had stumbled on this thread earlier, I would have loved to given you some places off the beaten path to check out. You are so right NY has so much more to see and do. Central park is truly gorgeous in the spring and fall. Lots of outdoor free concerts in the summer as well.
Well being I am new, and this is my 1st post and all I will leave it at that. Don't want to sound like a crazy New Yorker right off the bat.
Hugs and Kisses from a New admirer

Have many more if you want to see. During the summer months they do photo safari's, where a guide will take you around some of the best places for pictures. This is not well known by tourists so usually there is a very small group of people and they even take you into the castle itself.

Hugs and Kisses from a New admirer Aww! Thank you, sweetie! You are so nice! haha, sometimes redheads tend to look like other redheads by association of hair Yes, next time I go to New York, I want to see more of the places that everyone doesn't know about Thank you, sweets! xoxo ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

During the summer months they do photo safari's, where a guide will take you around some of the best places for pictures. This is not well known by tourists so usually there is a very small group of people and they even take you into the castle itself. Absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to go back during the spring/summer months and see that! Thank you for sharing xoxo ![Heart fill with love [smilie=heart fill with love.gif]](./chat_old/images/smilies/Heart fill with love.gif)

This is a GREAT thread. I can see why you're so good at GFE. You're so excited about everything. I would have loved to been with you two. The Scream comparison and the t-shirt for your sister (did she like it?) made me laugh out loud. I hope when Jade went back she didn't wear that pink heart on her face. Seems like it would be hard to site see with it on. So I'm guessing that someone had an errant facial hair. Am I right.

I was more interested in going places/seeing things than shopping. and we didn't go to coffee anywhere I would recommend a few places in Seattle for coffee, though!

I didn't really get the tshirt for my sister. Just a joke, but she did laugh!
