I was there several years ago on a day trip in the middle of February and it was sooooo cold. Yeah Times Square was too touristy.

Lol. My brother and I did spend alotta time in the Natural History Museum. Did ya go in the planetarium? Lol. I fell asleep in there.

Had fun in Central Park too! Did you visit Belvedere Tower?

We had to stop by Ground Zero this was well before it became the World Trade Center Memorial Park.

Nice job with this post. Good that you knocked out much of the tourist stuff on the first trip so won't have to do that stuff again in your next visits.

I love NY museums but the Natural History Museum to me was something that we had to do when we were in the 2nd/3rd grades, etc. I never had the desire to go back as an "adult." Now my favorites include Guggenheim, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum and Museum of Modern Art.

Next time I would recommend going to see live music in one of the clubs in the Village. Also instead of hitting up Broadway, check out an Off Broadway or and Off Off Broadway show. Less touristy and just as good - just without the $30 million startup cost. Many of those will eventually make it big on Broadway and you can say, "yeah, I saw it a couple of years ago!" as others are just discovering it.

Some restaurants are an experience. For example, Peter Luger's is world famous and they only have 1 thing on the menu. But bring cash (they don't accept cards) and be prepared to be barked at if you pause while ordering (it's part of the charm). lol

I am glad you had a great time in NY. So, that is what the Empire State Building looks like from above, cool. You 2 look very cold up there. If you were to take the subway during rush hour, I bet you will have a second opinion about the subway hehe. When you take a taxi, you have to be careful that they are not taking you for a ride. It happened to me before, he tried to take a longer route. But, since I am a new yorker I know my streets. I had to take over and tell the taxi driver where to go. Looking forward to seeing more of your fun pics.

It looks like a lot of fun there, and I particularly like the parts about the Ocean Life Exhibit and Central Park. I really like ocean animals, particularly whales, dolphins, and penguins (I can watch penguins in the zoo for hours and hours at a time!). And that is a really big whale they have hanging there in the exhibit! You'll have to tell me about this exhibit when I'm there in two weeks.

I also enjoy listening to musicians playing in outdoor settings, and that must've been quite an experience to hear them at the Park. I need to visit there some day! Really good photos of the park too. I can feel the cold just from looking at the pics, but it also looks like very beautiful scenery there.

Great job of capturing your trip on film and with words, I really enjoyed reading all about it!

I quite enjoyed the Museum of Natural History. Even though it does have a lot of information that is understandable to kids, doesn't mean it's any less educational for adults, or interesting. I bet the Museum of Modern Art is nice, but I much prefer vintage

I agree about the off-Broadway shows, but I still enjoy the ones who do make it to Broadway. There's a reason why they are there They are good, and I don't mind paying extra money for a good show!

Yes! I love ocean animals, so everything in that exhibit was very cool. That museum is full of interesting things and information. The live music in Central Park was absolutely amazing! I could have honestly stayed there all day and listened to them played. It was beautiful. I think if I lived in NYC, I would spend a lot of time in Central Park

...and those Empire State building pics, they are just so awesome, even though it must of felt like being at the North Pole. But what a contrast for Jade though? First she experiences Summer like conditions a continent away and then only a few days later, experiences blizzard like conditions on the observation deck?? Sheesh!!

We did covered several touristic places but she still have so much to see! It was soo cold and windy there!
I was a contrast from 100 degrees to teens. But the dryness is what gets me the most.

Ruby, let me start out by saying you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I started out checking out the Bunny Ranch after watching an episode of cat house on HBO and I finally wound up at the sister site. I have always been interested as it was. I came upon your pictures and I was like OMG!!

I think I may have seen you in the park by the fountain. I was with my wife and we both commented on how gorgeous you were. At least someone who was wearing a similar hat with red hair any way. Wife loved the hat and TY we spent several hours trying to find one she liked.

I wish I had stumbled on this thread earlier, I would have loved to given you some places off the beaten path to check out. You are so right NY has so much more to see and do. Central park is truly gorgeous in the spring and fall. Lots of outdoor free concerts in the summer as well.

Well being I am new, and this is my 1st post and all I will leave it at that. Don't want to sound like a crazy New Yorker right off the bat.

During the summer months they do photo safari's, where a guide will take you around some of the best places for pictures. This is not well known by tourists so usually there is a very small group of people and they even take you into the castle itself.
