General U.S. Army Ret. Passed away today. In Tampa Fl. He was knowen as , Stormin Norman. Led the U.S. troops in The first Gulf war..Born on Aug.24,1934 .In Trenton Nj.....He was 78. Died of complications of pneumonia..

I remember a quote of his that he made during a press briefing during the Gulf War in 1991. I forget the exact details of his press briefing but I do recall a reporter had asked him a question that was rather silly. H. Norman replied with, "Sir, that is just so much male bovine fecal matter." I thought that was an excellent bit of linguistic dancing to call something BULLSH*T on national TV without swearing or creating a media firestorm.

Male Bovine = A Bull
Fecal Matter = Sh*t.

I've stolen that line and have used it often.

My sympathies to his family and friends.

Used to go to school with one of his daughters and have met both his other daughter and son. Never met the general in person but he did a fine job raising his kids.

Brilliant guy and charismatic. No doubt that he could have made a deep run for high office if he wanted to after retiring from the Army.
