Norovirus Outbreak- Wash Your Hands

Since you are in relatively close quarters at the ranches I thought I'd share this. Apparently this has more attention than the flu. There is an outbreak of "stomach flu" or gastroenteritis caused by Norovirus. People are now coming to emergency rooms very ill with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. There is no vaccine for this so prevention is the key and is simple. WASH HANDS A LOT because it is spread from touching contaminated food, water and objects. Keep surfaces clean. It's is the kind of virus that you have heard of getting a whole cruise ship full of people sick. No reason to fear, just take the precautions seriously and you'll be fine. if you want the official read on it here is a link to the CDC website:

Yikes! Good looking out, I'm just getting over the flu:( It was horrible!!!

Last time I had a bout of that was in 2009, and I caught it while I was visiting friends in Wooster, OH. Ruined the last day of my visit there, then took the Greyhound bus home the next day and night. Believe me--having to go on a moving bus is not my idea of fun. *lol*

Knocking on wood I won't get that this year. Or anytime soon for that matter.

Just wash and purell and it won't necessarily spread to everyone, it isn't spread in the air.

Let's say that it was not a whole lotta fun. I'm surprised that I even survived the trip going home at all. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my life.

Aw, it's OK Tamela. I got through everything, and that's what mattered. Wasn't easy, of course. And it doesn't compare to the last time I had the flu, back in 1987. Then, I was REALLY sick. and it takes a lot to knock me down too. Worst week of my life, but that's another story.

Thanks for the reminder Doc. The stomach flu is never fun! I know I always make sure to keep my room and everything else extra clean this time of year! Maybe a little too clean! But its worth it to keep healthy all year long!

A friendly bump on this topic. This wiped out hundreds of people at the Hilton Hotel in Ryebrook NY. I was sick from this last week myself and missed two days of work so WASH and Purell to PREVENT....

Aww Red it is really awful. Just drink a lot since you probably can't eat and want to just be in bed, preferably Gatorade. Don't get dehydrated.
